Cornerstone Church Pengilly is a small friendly church located in Northern MN at the corner of Highway 65 and 169.  Cornerstone Church began as Abundant Life Church - Pengilly in 2015 with a desire to Love God and Love People in our community. The name was changed to Cornerstone Church in 2022, but we are the same people with the same mission.

Our current Interim Pastor is Kent Drewelow. Pastor Kent has been a preacher and a farmer for most of his life and has lived on the Iron Range for 38 years. You will enjoy Pastor Kent's deep Biblical messages with a bit of humor and fun. Pastor Kent & Janet still currently farm, garden and spoil their grandkids. They would love to meet you!

When you visit, expect to meet friendly people who love Jesus, love to worship and have fun together. Once a month we have a meal after service together and anyone is invited to join us. Don't worry about putting on fancy clothes, just come as you are to meet some really great people and seek the Lord together. Our service has contemporary music, a Biblical sermon, prayer and fellowship.

What We Believe?

As an Assemblies of God church, we believe in the 16 Fundamental Truths found here

... the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible and authoritative Word of God.

... there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost.

... in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal, future return to this earth in power and glory to rule over the nations.

... that man was created good and upright....but man by voluntary transgression fell.

... the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious blood of Christ.

... water baptism by immersion

... communion

... the baptism in the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 2:4, is given to believers who ask for it.

...baptism of believers in the Holy Ghost is witnessed by the initial physical sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit of God gives them utterance.

... in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy life.

... that the Church is the Body of Christ, the habitation of God through the Spirit, with divine appointments for the fulfillment of her great commission.

... that a divinely called and scripturally ordained ministry has been provided.

... the redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides healing of the human body in answer to prevailing prayer.

... in the blessed hope the rapture of the Church at Christ's coming.

... in the second coming of Christ includes the rapture of the saints, which is our blessed hope, followed by the visible return of Christ.

... in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, the one to everlasting life and the other to everlasting damnation.

... that we are looking "for new heavens and a new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness."

Baptism by Immersion
We practice baptism by immersion under water – the way Jesus was baptized. Once you have accepted Jesus as your Savior,  we believe that water baptism is an important step as a proclamation of faith. Colossians 2:12

Our hearts were created to be loved by God and in turn to love him with all of our hearts. Worship is the way we live our lives and respond to who God is, what He has done, and His powerful love for us. One of the most consistent ways we worship is through singing and speaking words of reverence to him. Mark 12:29-31, Colossians 3:16, Psalm 29:2

Spirit-led Living
We believe the only way possible to live the Christian life is by God’s power within us. By obedience to the Word of God and daily yielding to the Spirit of God, every believer should mature and be conformed to the image of Christ. So, we seek to practice a daily dependence on God’s Spirit to enable us to do what is right and to obey God’s command to “be filled with the Spirit.” Ephesians 5:18, John 15:5

We practice receiving Communion as an act of remembering what the Lord Jesus Christ did for us on the cross. Luke 22:19

Giving Back to God
We practice tithing for the support of Christ’s Body, the church, as God commands. We recognize that giving 10% of our income is Biblical. We recognize that Jesus taught about money a great deal while on earth and stated a profound truth when he said,  “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”  Matthew 6:21, Leviticus 27:30

Every Believer is a Minister
The Bible teaches that every follower of Christ is called to “full-time” Christian service, regardless of his/her vocation. This is called the “priesthood of believers” and means that we’re all called to be ministers. We believe that every person has talents and abilities to be discovered, developed, and deployed. 1 Peter 2:9

Telling Others About Jesus
Jesus asked every one of us to share the Good News and God’s love with the people in our lives! We believe that it is the responsibility of every Christian to tell others about Jesus and invite friends to church. 1 Peter 3:15
